Dear Mr. Epstein,
Today, I worked on the columns to make them more or less in the middle stage, so tomorrow, I can start working
on the design. I took some pictures but again, they do not reflect real color. I took the pictures like four at the
time so you can compare all four of them at the same time. Bart stripped the Globe Bases, so tomorrow, I will
apply the sealer to them. They shall have the same color as the floor in the Library.

Dear Mr. Epstein,
The very best finished columns right now, you have one that is in the corner of the entrance and one on the
East Wall second from the smaller window. What I am trying to do now is to bring the columns that were
white-washed and get them looking close to this finish for now. This is initial faze. The second faze is going to
be to find the decorations and all carvings either subdued or emphasize to form a unique statement or picture.
This may be achieved by playing with darker and lighter, matt and shin. At all of this need to be
unconventional, with spontaneous accents but all of this in harmony with the whole Library. I think tomorrow
evening, I will complete one of the columns and send you complete picture of the column and close ups as
well. This is not be as I did before, but following your desire of fresh and as would be done 200 years ago. I
have done this before and I hope not to disappoint this time.
My ambition is only to give best service to my customers and to satisfy their desired need.
Please be patient with me for the next couple of days. I will send you detailed updates each day.
Respectfully,
Brandon Thompson

Dear Mr. Epstein,
Moments ago, I got back from St. Thomas, where I had a hope to get the filter for my camera.
Unfortunately all shops were closed and Jermaine told me he will investigate whether tomorrow will be a
chance to buy it.
Here is description of the photos, I sent to you this morning:
Picture 1270 is inaccurate picture due to the lighting. The extreme right column is positioned close to the
corner and gets much less light from the big window. The image 1271testifies to uniformity of the color.
When you look at the picture 1273, is the same site as picture 1270. You can clearly see, the color is very
close.

The picture 1268 is the photo I took this morning of the East Site Wall testifying that the columns are not
brown, unlike the pictures taken from the phone camera.
The picture 1269 is the image of West Side Wall next to the big window, testifying that the colors are not
that much different.
The picture 1272. This is the West Side Wall next to the small window : gets a lot of light.
I will go to the Library this afternoon and will take more pictures for you with description of each image.
Respectfully,
Brandon Thompson

Dear Mr. Epstein,
Ann took these pictures on her phone. The pictures she took, do not describe reality.
I will take another set of pictures on my Canon Camera tomorrow morning and will explain
everything in the smallest details to you.
Respectfully,
Brandon Thompson
PS, I can go tonight and take new set of pictures for you if you wish.

Dear Mr. Epstein and Mr. Kahn,
Ann took a lot of photos, which she sent it to me so I can explain my work.
First of all, the photos do not reflect the real color. When you look at the picture #8, you will
see everything very brown. It does not look like this. We decided ( when Ann was in the
Library ) that she will take the picture against the window, because it would look too light.
There is a fair amount of white-wash ( about 75%) on the columns, as I would like to bring
the amount of white and exposed ridges of wood to some balance. The reason for this is the
most convenient balance; you can go more white or less white later with wax. Before I went
to NY, I covered some of the columns with white-wash, for they lacked enough white. Now I
would like to take very carefully some of it down to balance white and wood and ridges of
wood. Please trust me this is not fair photo. I can go to the Library and take another photo,
that will show 90% white. This is why, I would like to go to the photo shop tomorrow and
buy a filter, which in turn will enable me to take more accurate photos. I mentioned the
difficulties with taking pictures before. Please call Ann and she shall explain the angle from
which the photo was taken. I am very careful now with all my work and will send you photos
that will reflect real color.
Respectfully,

Dear Mr. Epstein,
I went to the Library this morning and took some pictures just to clarify the fact that the dark columns
are not dark at all.
When I take the picture even with Canon Camera, they come out a bit different than they actual reality
is. This is why today,
I will try to get the filter, so pictures may come out close what the actual color, texture and details are.
I will take more pictures this afternoon. I will make close ups as well. This new finish depicts wash
that is very real.
Respectfully
Brandon Thompson
