Dear Mr. Kahn,
Thank you for your letter.
Just would like to update you on the Staircase and the Stair-rail.
We are making a good progress. Again, I changed the method of restoring Staircase and the Stair-mil. I decided
to remove the glue from the Steps in mechanical way. Although is a bit more time consuming, I would like to
avoid over use the chemicals. Rock-miracle contains Methaline Chloride and beside the smell, it gets into
surroundings and is harmful to the health. I will try varies methods to avoid harsh chemicals. As far as the
Stair-rail is concern, I am washing it with alcohol and steel wool # 0000, so there are no side affects. I already
cleaned 65% of the top. The mil on the Second Floor, had a lot of scuffs, scratches and dents. The very deep
dents, I steamed them up and the wood grain lifted up completely. I did the same with the rest of the scratches
and the Rail on the Second Floor looks like brand new. Again, when I finish cleaning it, I will use finest French
Polish. French Polish is a natural finish, and is completely neutral, so there will be no side effects.
I re-finished a lot of Stair-rails for varies museums and the effects were very nice. I think, I will impress Mr.
Epstein with this work. For now, I am cleaning it very carefully, as it has small details and I can not leave
anything to chance.
I will update you within two days again.
Thank you,
Brandon Thompson

Thank you for sending me check so promptly. I received it from Marwin on Monday.
Many times my estimates may seem high, however, I always estimate the work for the highest quality and
execution.
The stairs is a relatively small project, so this is fine. You mentioned a possible project in New Mexico. I
will be happy to participate,
as I have expertize in wood Restoration, Finishing and Re-finishing and Preservation. I imagine, this would
be much bigger project,
and will go for bidding. Would you be so kind and let me know the possible date of this project? I will be
happy to submit my methods
of preserving the wood, staining and finishing as well.
Thank you for being so kind,
Brandon Thompson
