Jeffrey,
Happy New Year.
After a very challenging year, I have great news to share with you. Our next issue, number 24, is printed and will
be in the mail to you in the next week. We will resume our bimonthly publishing schedule in February.
The challenges facing independent publishers today never get easier. But, we are delighted to say that we have
secured new financial backers. These folks are as excited about Nautilus' intelligent, creative, and
multidisciplinary explorations of science as you are.
Specifically, an investor group of a dozen Nautilus super-fans has banded together as a single ownership group to
acquire Nautilus. Like our staff, contributors, partners and advisors, they are in it for the long haul, and for all the
right reasons.
Together we will work even harder to expand the public's knowledge and understanding of fundamental
questions of scientific inquiry, as well as their connection to human culture.
Importantly, this deal also gives us the resources we need to continue to pay off all our debt and support the same
kind of vibrant, original writing and reporting that has differentiated Nautilus from the very beginning.
We will make a formal, public, more detailed announcement soon. In the interim, please enjoy issue number 24.
We hope it helps kick your New Year off right. The connections between science, philosophy, mathematics,
culture, ideas, and art have never been more important.
See you in the pages of Nautilus. Have an excellent start to 2019.
All the best,
John
