Subject: WEATHER UPDATE — SAT SEPTEMBER 1
V.I. WEATHER SUMMARY
Sunny conditions are expected across the Virgin Islands today. At 5
a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Leslie was located near 17.8
degrees north, 53.5 degrees west or about 769 miles east of St. Croix.
The tropical storm was moving to the west-northwest at 17 miles per
hour. Tropical Storm Leslie is expected to turn to the northwest
tonight along with a decrease in forward speed that should continue
through Sunday.
On the forecast track, Tropical Storm Leslie will make its closest
approach to the Virgin Islands on Sunday night around 7
pm when the center passes some 415 miles to the northeast of St.
John. At that time, Leslie will be a Category One hurricane with
top winds of 75- 80 miles per hour.
The only effect from Tropical Storm Leslie will be easterly swells that
will start arriving into the Atlantic coastal waters Sunday morning
creating hazardous seas. Small craft advisories are in effect for

EFTA01892769
Sunday for the adjacent Atlantic waters and the waters of the
Anegada Passage due to seven to nine foot seas in east-northeasterly
swells.
