conditioning unit is in operation. Air for cooling is deliv=red through the dorsal fin ram air inlet
inflight and through that =nlet plus a flapper door in the refrigeration unit ducting on the
g=ound. All air is then ported overboard. The cooling fan cannot be individu=lly controlled.
MAINTENANCE MANUAL
Included in the Environme=tal Control System (ECS) are two ACM bypass shut-off valves and
ass=ciated ducting. The ACM bypass shut-off valves are 1.5 inch nominal diamet=r valves
which allow airflow around the turbine section of the ACM =henever open. The unit receives
its signals from the air data compu=er which opens valves at an altitude of 42,000 feet or
greater and =loses valves at an altitude of 40,000 feet or less. The valve is spring-lo=ded to
