How interesting. You don't impress easily, so this assessment means a lot to me (I've not encountered anybody
out here who really impresses me, btw... which is weird, given the density of tech guys etc.).
This next trip is getting compressed, given that Robin will be with me and two of our kids are in NYC now. I
would hate to have you make all these arrangements and then we could only spend an hour or two. (Plus, who
knows what his schedule is like -- I show up in 2.5 weeks.) Can we set up another trip? Something to look
forward to!!
Thanks, Jeffrey.. This really has brightened up my day.

Thanks for your speedy reply, Joscha...
Your interests and mine do in fact have a huge overlap. I would enjoy meeting you.
I was in Berlin last year (at Humbolt), but have no plans to return soon. I do plan on being in New York with
some frequency, so perhaps we might have a chance to get together there.
Let's stay in touch.
With best wishes,

Thank you very much for that offer, Stephen! — I live in Berlin, though, so meeting up in person will require
a bit of organizational effort. It is quite likely that I will be in the area again soon.
I am very interested in integrating cognition, ie building cognitive architectures, understanding the nature
and organization of mental representation on a functional (not necessarily neurobiological) level, and
somewhere down the road I would like to learn more about the emergence of visuaUperceptual grammars,
mental simulation, and the genesis of language. I think I have some basic understanding how to build a
computational model of motivation (helpful for attaching relevance to mental content, and providing
reinforcement signals for open-ended learning, social interaction and exploration), and how to conceive of
affect as a configuration of cognitive modulators. (I wrote a cognitive architecture, MicroPsi, and a book on
the topic, called "Principles of Synthetic Intelligence", from OUR)
Cheers,
Joscha
Thanks, Jeffrey!
Joscha: If you live in the SF Bay area, let's find a time for a cup of tea or a drink. If you don't live around
here, where do you live?
