I'm not angry with you at all.
I feel like I can be candid with you just as you are with me. I do feel Leon strung me along and may have
criticized my actions post hoc, when you spoke with one another about me. I know it is not AT ALL your style to
string anyone along: you are direct and sincere and I believe you care about everyone you bother to bring into
your very busy life. I know our conversation the other day was just a way for you to communicate your concern
about my course of action and I appreciate it. But most people aren't like you. They don't care, they aren't clear
and they are not invested.
I just reacted to your email in which you described me as a failed experiment. I came to NY because I trust you
and your unique, unfettered perspective, perhaps more in that moment than my own. Just because our Phaidon-
related plans didn't turn out to be the right ones doesn't mean this trip hasn't already lead to more progress than I
can imagine. You were always right, LA is a wasteland and NY has. in less than 2 months, clarified what it is I
should be doing with my life that 1 year in LA could not.
Talk to me about what you expect from me. I trust you. I'm sorry for my tone. I blame my hair color.

Perhaps you can clarify your expectations to me. Of course, I already feel a little bit like your ward, so I don't
want to disappoint, but I also suspect I am your least obsequious and most rebellious ward and that may not
be acceptable under the terms of our tacit deal.
