Dear Marie:
As you are aware, numerous civil lawsuits have been filed in both state and
federal courts against my client, Jeffrey Epstein. In order to defend those cases, my
client must engage in discovery which will include depositions of parties, witnesses and
third parties. I am confident that the plaintiffs' attorneys as well as Mr. Epstein's
attorneys will conduct the discovery including outside investigations to assist them in
either prosecuting and/or defending the cases as they deem appropriate.
While I know you are well familiar with the civil process, I wanted to put you on
notice as to exactly what was occurring in the civil cases so that neither you nor anyone
else from USAO deem it to be in any way in violation of the deferred prosecution
agreement.
