Hi Jeff,
I know we have talked about this before, but as you know, I have been working for some time on developing a
systematic approach to the solving of global problems. Applying a systematic methodology to solving certain
global problems through a suite of well-defined vetted grants and incentivized prizes, and hooking them up with
funders and solvers, with the latest generation of engines that crawl the social web, is an innovative way to go.
People want to make a meaningful difference, but often times, they have no clue of what to even do. They need
a place that is credible, and offers the ability to participate in tractable, meaningful ways. When I say tractable, I
mean projects that can be solved within a 3 - 5 year time-frame.
Last month, we had a good meeting with Ira Magaziner at the CGI conference, and Ira very much liked our
approach and thought it would be "huge." He is actively supporting us now, but we need to get seed funding in,
so that we can become Real. Then, the gates to further and far more signficant funding will happen. Ira wants to
get us on at CGI next year, which will be a big step. I will also be giving a talk on this issue at the upcoming
DLD conference.
I would like to solicit your help into tapping into your extensive network as we are engaged in a major fund-
raising drive for Blue World Alliance to raise necessary seed capital to take this from the Grand Vision into
Reality. Of course, if there is any way that I could tap into your support for this, it would be extremely helpful
and significant. We are already partnering up with Microsoft and their lead team Neudesic to build out the
innovation marketplace.
I am enclosing our latest deck. I have enclosed both a Macintosh version (keynote) and a PC version
(powerpoint).
So, my dear dear friend, any help that you could assist in this department would be greatly appreciated. I have
supported it these 2.5 years almost entirely out of my own pocket, but am personally not in a financial position to
fund it anymore myself. Although the ask is significant, any financial contribution would be extremely helpful
right now. We are under management of LKM, which is a top Berkeley based firm, which handles large non-
profits, such as Moveon.org, etc.
If you would like to discuss it, I would be happy to do so. It really is an intelligent approach...
This is a template, and although, it will first be applied to the oceanographic space (our planet's lifeline), it can
be easily adapted to other spaces as well. It has vast support among the leaders in this area, as you can see from
our very prestigious advisory counsel.
Yours,
Al
