Last night, on Thursday, shortly after 8, Andrew's wife Nancy was at an event at the Museum
of Modern Art about to start dinner when she fainted and could not initially be awakened.
She was brought to New York Hospital and admitted with a diagnosis of bleeding from an
intracranial vessel. She was seen at the hospital by Dr. Thomas Nash and is under the care
of Dr. Philip Stieg, Chief of Neurosurgery. She is being operated on this morning to clamp
off a bleeding aneurysm.
Her boys Maxson and Jasper came to the hospital with Gloria and me. Andrew flew in from Los
Angeles and got here by morning. She was alert enough to recognize him and talk to him and
to Dr. Stieg. She knows what is happening to her, though of course she is now under an
anesthetic.
The operation is currently in progress and is expected to take about four hours. I'll let
you know what happens after she gets out of the operation.
