It can't be done from the US and by an english speaker I think. The only asian company run in English has been
Nissan and he was a car legend. I love the culture and understand it as best I can, but no idea how to really
manage it (versus symbolically manage it).
They have real challenges that I don't know the answer to at all -- they are stuck trying to win the high end by
beating apple which is definitely not possible for years best case (requires apple to totally stumble). And at the
low end there are a half dozen competitors eating away in major markets (XiaoMi, Huawei, ZTE, and more).
And they can't really advantage their in house brands because they are already losing those new companies to
other suppliers.
I will predict that they will gradually pull back from a consumer facing presence and focus on being the supply
chain. Might take 5-7 years. But just not sure how they maintain both -- the competition for their supply chain is
intense from China.
