Yes: 1. There are different kinds of happy (one for each drive that is being satisfied), and they probably have
different smile-incidence. (Imagine: postcoital vs post vanquishing your enemy.) 2. People show different
amount of emotion if others are present (but they also show when others are absent, or when they are themselves
blind). Thus, smile may additionally result from a communicative intention (share emotion, allow
synchronization, demonstrate submission to group norms etc.).

In the same sense as a scene of a war crime is a reminder to be nice to each other? Semantics depend entirely on
the other women, I'd think. For some, it might be a reminder to lose weight, or to write an angry blog post about
the effects of patriarchy on beauty ideals.

Vast array of possibilities. Could be sign of dominance or submission, acceptance or rejection of others (smile
because you like what others do, or to demonstrate your independence from them), etc.!
