2. Jon Haidt, who is one of the hottest younger psychologists is coming to NYC (with wife and two babies) to
spend a year at Russell Sage. He's looking for an apartment. See his OpEd in Sunday's NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/08/opinion/08haidt.html. Although Jewsih and an atheist, he often sounds like
a conservative and has pushed the theme that liberals only look at 2 out of 5 parameters, i.e. the look at justice
and fairness and miss community, loyalty, authority. He was also the driving force behind the EDGE morality
conference http://edge.org/conversation/a-new-science-of-morality-part-1.

3. My housekeeper, Anna Rios, is a former Columbian marathon champion, who was forced to leave and come
here for political reasons. Since we've met her, as a single mother she's raised two kins, one of which, her 17 yr
old daughter Karen Roa, is also a track star who is a senior majoring in science at Umass. Karen is on her way to
SantaFe for the summer to train for the US track team and Anna found out about SFI and is all over me to get her
daughter over there to spend time and absorb the culture.
They don't have a program and I doubt Karen has the chops to make the grade in any kind of academic ranking,
but what I care about are people like myself who, by accident (or force or will), escaped their parents world and
discovered the life of the mind. So I am trying to do something for her with no success to date. Brian Arthur
wrote a letter. Geoff West has been useless. (He is coming to the office to see me about a book on Wednesday).
Any ideas? Best thing might be an internship where she goes there a few hours a day or a couple of times a week
after practice. But I am out of options.
4. Medically, I continue to improve slowly. And as you can see from this email and the Master Class, I am
getting my creative energy back. You were very prescient when you said I would not be myself for quite a while.
