We talked to Deborah for a few minutes after you left. She wanted to make sure that we are moving to Arizona
with no ties left to Massachusetts, for estate tax reasons. We explained that we have no further ties to Mass,
except for my informal relations with MIT as an emeritus Institute Professor. Everything is in AZ: domicile,
employment, car registration and license, voting, so there should be no estate tax claims from Mass.
She brought up the promissory note for the loan to the Trust. She said it is not secured, and asked if we intended
to pay it. We told her that we have received no information about that and have no intention of paying the loan
now. She agreed and wanted to make sure that nothing about the loan had come up in connection with the sale
of the apartment. We assured her that it did not, and she agreed that we should do nothing about the loan,
particularly while the issues about the marital trust are unsettled.
She brought up the question of assessing intellectual property for estate tax reasons, and we said we would like
Richard to be involved in any discussion about that.
We also told her that we want Richard to be included in all calls, and she agreed. She said that Richard had told
her something about a financial statement and asked whether she could be provided with any statement.
We're planning to shift all of our legal affairs to a new firm that works in both AZ and MA. Haven't told
Deborah yet, but should soon.
