They see it as the root of Microsoft. They are tired of CEO founders having succession be to their lieutenant who is by definition a complementary side show. They are making sure that in their companies the board doesn't approve of those plans and doesn't allow COO->CEO transitions. They want me on a board. Mark working on Twitter. They think the east coast is a tech joke :-) (including Harvard). I talked about management and leadership. It was funny. They are all troubled by the whole notion of "let's all be nice" that Steve put forth as well as Tim Cook. That/s why they say there is a lot of pressure to off Andy Rubin. Everyone knows they only reason he is still there is Larry (true?) I think when I hear the stories of Andy and guy at Apple it just bums be out because I never did anything like the things they do. Pikes! I talked to a portfolio company of al6z (andresseen horowitz) called Lytro. They wanted me to consider CEO. It is better than I thought. I have a good idea for the CEO (the guy who did the demos in NY -- he's a harvey mudd engineer and a perfect fit for what they are looking for). They have a search firm (one person firm) I am going to connect with after the new year. At Microsoft, steve is in a bad spot. He hasn't put 2+2 together to realize that the way he handled me really impacted the reception of Windows 8. He is torturing folks. Doesn't seem sustainable. Bummer.
