We all agreed that we have to get in touch with the Norwegians and make sure, again, that they understand that FAH will not be leaving Yemen and to impress upon them that a trial in Yemen is the only option available to them for justice. Ian Burton will need a formal letter from the Ministry of Justice, preferably signed by the Minister himself or a senior member of the Ministry, that would state that; o Yemeni Authorities will allow/accept a trial to be held in Yemen. o What role will the British Authorities have in this process and what will be needed from the British authorities for this (File on the Case held by the CPS e.t.c). o The process will be completely transparent. o If found guilty, what is the range of sentencing and where will the sentence be served. o The Yemeni Embassy in the UK must be on board with this so that they can answer questions from the media when this comes out into the open. 2. When approaching the Norwegians, Ian and Ken would want to speak on behalf of not only FAH, but also on behalf of the family in that they are also representing the family in trying to mitigate a way forward in this matter. 3. It is very important for them to get a psychiatric report on FAH by an Internationally recognised and reputable psychiatrist. A Yemeni or Egyptian psychiatrist may suffice for this. 4. They are asking for the remaining items to do with this matter from Peters and Peters. EFTA00951892 Portland Communications will be sending us a proposal on exactly what will be needed for us to combat the negative articles and publications online. They have also asked for the details of Mr Shaher's charitable activities so that this may be used by them in future. I think its best to see what the questionnaire/proposal they come up with before we can see how it fits with our Group ethos. I proposed that after we have provided them with the above, they may wish to communicate with the Norwegian through Bondevik and Einaar who have been involved in this from the beginning. You may disagree with this and opt to go with the recent Parliamentarian delegations that met in Rome for the ICC discussions. Both ways will achieve the same goal to get in touch with the family.
