you are right: separating forces are important
there needs to be a boundary between life and death
separating forces uphold that boundary
all chemical reactions are based on the electromagnetic force
so this force can separate
but can gravity also separate?
for example a molecular cloud is "separated" into a star and planets
planets are needed for life based on carbon chemistry
