Subject: 1= AM UPDATE--TROPICAL STORM MARIA -- THU SEPT 8
At 11am today, the center of Tropcial Storm Maria was loc=ted near 13 degrees North, 51.2 degrees West or about 971
miles east south=ast of St. Croix. Tropical Storm Maria is moving to the west at 22 miles p=r hour. This general motion
should continue today followed by a turn to the west-northwest with a decrease in forward speed on Friday. <=font>
Maximum =ustained winds are near 45 miles per hour with higher gusts and Maria coul= be de-generating into a tropical
wave later today. However, there is the =trong likelihood of regeneration during the next day or two. No matter
the=status of the storm system, tropical storm force winds extend outward up t= 115 miles to the north and east of the
center.
It is important to note that the forecast track has been adj=sted by the National Hurricane Center more to the south---
now putting the =ntire territory in the path of tropical storm force winds.

39=miles southwest of St. John at 9 pm Saturday and 30 miles southwest 4 St. Thomas at 10 pm Saturday.
Tropical storm force winds, winds in excess =f 39 miles per hour are now expected to affect St. Croix for ten hours
beg=nning at 11 am Saturday; for ten hours across St. John beginning at 2 pm S=turday and for 11 hours across St.
