Was not able to make the Island trip fit (my loss - it would have been fun). s looking for a
joint time with Botstein in the next few weeks. I'm leaving the city tonight, but am back Friday
afternoon until Monday lunch, if you are in the city, I'm free.
Last night was looking through a book on mycelium (mushroom and fungus biology). A lot of the
associated orientation is new age and flakey stuff, but there might be some worthwhile biological
insights/knowledge subsiding in the biological tactics that have evolved in this phylum, especially
spore development and propagation. I will let you know if something turns up which might be
applicable more generally to theories of various kinds (risk curtailment and abatement, contagion
in large populations, evolutionary strategy, etc).
