Most things that matter in the real world aren't "main effects" (in a stats sense), but rather arc
"interaction effects." The trick is to remember that when context changes, many of the
interactions change -- and hence the way the ensemble affects you changes. And we humans are
crappy at thinking about interactions at all, let alone complex higher-order ones. So it's very
difficult to predict how a big change will affect someone.
