When I'm on the ice, I feel invincible and free, yet more alert and ready for anything, whether it's
the puck or an opponent advancing. Once I jump the boards, the ice is mine at all times since I'm
center and am as much a defensive as an offensive player. This dual role in hockey has helped me
focus better in school and in life because I'm responsible for more than myself
-- As soon as I feel the ice crunch beneath my skates , a felling of invincibility and freedom
comes over me. Playing center , requires both offensive and defensive skills. Playing at all
,requires acute awareness that I am a member of a larger team. Sounds like life to me.
