it's not what i do well either. i always have 5 or 6 things i want to do and would love to do. i get sad when things
go bad but i find ways to adapt. and move on.
he doesnt. he has no dreams or aspirations that he is aware of - or that i am aware of
for whatever reason he believes samsung can't work - partly due to the internal policitics, partly due to the
bigness of the org (much like msft) and partly due to their inability to make progress on projects.
i think too he's concerned about the affiliation.
he does respond and he continues to talk to them since they call and ask for advice or ideas but culturally - he
cannot submit a proposal that he is not willing to follow up on since the loss of face for everyone would be huge.
i do think a good thing would be for him to spend more time in the craetive (and safe) space of VC. that's what
steve jobs did when he needed to recharge. he's just too angry right now.
my guess is that he will spend a huge amount of emotional energy placing his friends or trying to. since they've
been fired they wil now come asking. samsung might be a good place for some, or HP or even some of the
smaller VCs. the only one left there is Julie and i am not sure what will happen there.
he tells me that these people are his life and that msft is his life and that's it. he's trying to dive into the VC work
and my hope is that he will, but with each big announcement at msft (ballmer out, friends fired, race for ceo) he
just can't seem to move on. i think the "grieving clock" resets with each one of these announcements.
you and i thrive on positive energy. he seems to thrive or crave negative energy for some reason . i don't get it.
my conversations are gentle and focus on letting go of anger and frustration and blame and move on. he hears
me but somehow can't do it.
i wish i had ideas or a way to help but i'm afraid there are no shortcuts to grieving.
hopefully the vc will pull him through this.
