Hi Steven - Pardon the introduction via email, but I wanted to get in contact as soon as possible.
This is a consulting request for you personally, on behalf of a client of ours. They would like to
speak with you about the possibility of retaining you for a group of advisors they are assembling
for their work related to the software products and services industry. They are a relatively large
institutional investor based in New York and are vetting out a thesis related to competitive
landscape among established tech companies like Microsoft. They are pulling together a team
of experts with whom they can consult during the preliminary phases of their research and who
will ideally be in a position to be a sounding board for them as they move forward.
Based on what we had read of your background, we thought you would be a great addition to
their informal team. If nothing else, I wanted to give you the full details and see if a quick
introduction might be warranted, so they could tell you more about what they are planning.
This project is not in conflict/competition with any of the companies or organizations in the
industry, nor is it a meaningful time commitment, so we felt very comfortable reaching out to
you about it. An engagement like this usually results in great two-way dialog, great information
flow, and a good relationship for yourself, your firm, and our client. It is also a paid engagement
if there are no conflicts with your current employment.
When is a convenient time to talk for 5 minutes so I can tell you more?
Best,
Andrew
