default, I would say: "well-fed". I read Vicky's piece about you in VF. I would say that article is
more psychologically telling of her than you. I couldn't finish it -- it was too grating and grasping --
but most writers write about what they know. I don't mean subject matter, I mean the things they
live with: their own fears, desires, shame, lies, anxieties, shortcomings. The themes of the piece
arc themes she knows very well from her own life. But you probably knew that and I know it's not
helpful.
