Subject: private sector dude
the european recycling scheme called Green Dot and one of their board members called Philippe von
Schauffenburg (his dad has a cool history with Hitler) have engaged with us to buy up the solid waste (mostly
plastics) in African port cities.
they basically compete and pay better prices than the chinese and want PET (plastic) since it has the most
value.
we helped them set up a deal with the "government" in Liberia, mostly to buy their backlog, we couldn't work
anything out in ghana where the risk was acceptable to them (also markets very competitive there).
the local government in abidjan might be able to play ball and their team is doing an assessment of the waste
volume/profitability over the next 2 weeks.
the reason i bring this up is because i know that you have friends in power in cote d'ivoire. i'm not looking to do
anything charitable there - just looking to link them with serious euro buyers for their recyclables. the volume has
to be upwards of a 100 mT and we think they will have this.
worth making any introductions? this is pure private sector, good cause.
