I'm down with white crown molding and the bookcases are fine. Stone in the middle at
least to the mantel. I think all the way up is actually cheaper then doing wood. I sent
Ike a 39,000 dollar tv.

I LOVE your run on sentences! ;)
I think i see painted white molding in the family room over mahogany...I need to
think on the book cases on either side of the fireplace..I really like the one picture i
found...doing the whole fireplace area in stone though I may be digging...

Modern molding are very simple. Clam shell casing. Small. If you want totally modern
you have to have the whole interior project in mind. I think the fireplace should be
stone up till the ceiling and the book cases on either side should have doors like the
kitchen but there should be no base on the cabinets (hanging on the wall) with
unconnected shelves above it. We could go with a more shaker casing that would look
like your doors in the kitchen. The wainscoting in the dining room will be like the doors
(no molding in the squares. Maybe I do another arch over by the cellar door and run a
big cove mahogany crown around the family room. How do you like these run on
sentences. I HAVE TO LET IT FLOW.

Another idea is to use a beaded simple base and add a back band.

Then we add a back band to it. Remember colonial has a lot of movement modern does
not.
If you can get me a picture of the perfect NYC type of modern design showing what is
around the doors that will help us make the decision.
