If you are about to make an important decision make sure you aren't too warm. Researchers from
the University of Virginia have found that cold temperatures can help you think straight and warm
temperatures can impair your ability to concentrate. This impairment is the result of depleted
glucose supplies. Glucose is our brain's energy source...when we are in a warm or cold
environment our body employs glucose to regulate our temperature. However, cooling the body
down requires more energy than warming it up. Thus excessive heat reduces our capacity for
cognitive functioning, weakening our decision-making abilities.
