It was so nice meeting you today too and thank you for you kind words!
I think I understand what you're describing regarding closing off the door to the
foyer and keeping the space in between the columns open. Layout wise, I'm not
convinced it's better because you need more room in the walkways when there are
stools. This might come down to how many stools you'd like to have too. Not
sure if Bob was thinking stools along the back of the island (main sink side) or
the end towards the front entry or possibly both. The key is to leave enough
room to comfortably get by when someone is sitting at the higher counter and this
may be tight with the width of the kitchen.
Let me know what you think once you visit the site and I'll hold off pricing
until then.
Best,
Gianna

Thank you so much for your time today Gianna! Love that we are thinking the same
and I feel like you understand my needs...It was a lot of fun and I can tell you
are very good at what you do!
I am glad I told you to hold off however because Bob did have an interesting
idea...I am still wrapping my head around it and want to go to the property to
show Ike and discuss...but basically Bob suggested throwing out the island that
is nearest the family room and keeping that open accept for the columns that need
to be there...he suggested closing off the door way entry from the foyer into the
kitchen and making that more counter/cabinet space ...and making the center
island have a raised height at the end where I can put the bar height chairs and
eating area I want. That would really create a larger feel to the kitchen...
hmmmm,...something to mull over for sure....BUT, one of the things I have always
had on my 'wish list' for the new house was this island with the 2 heights and
columns and bar chairs separate the way it is...
What do you think?
I told my husband I really think you have a handle on kitchens and that I want
you to give us a quote...He agrees that the kitchen/family area is also the most
important part of the house...
'Talk' to you soon!
