Are you serving martinis these days? I have a few ideas about your dining room.
Right now it could double as a conference room and I am not sure if that is what
you dislike. I would guess that you like to foster discussion/debate around the
table and the conversations require focus. If you were to paint a dramatic scene
or landscape around the room it would have to rival that of the Vatican to match
the quality of the rest of your house and the stature of the guests you plan to
entertain. An environment such as that would put all of the focus on the
surroundings and not on the table or the participants at it. My suggestion would
instead be to build out architectural elements in the room to frame magnificent
works of art that exemplify the unspoken passion and concentration of the artist.
You will provoke and foster an intensity of thought and interest to take place in
the room as opposed to the room being the focus. The architectural design will
bring drama and intimacy(in to c me) with lighting focused on the art and the
table. That is just a taste of my thoughts. I have it pictured in my mind's eye
and it is quite impressive.
