Subject• Airconditioning noise in living room.
Jeffrey, Randy Weissbach of Cassidy air conditioning has inspected the livingroom air
conditioner and air vents. The vent into the garden room cannot be easily be enlarged, it passes
through a concrete wall, the vent into the lake room could be enlarged by approximatly 3 inches
in height and maybe 3 inches in width. A new grille can be ordered which will take 4 weeks.
There is no space for any sound reducing baffle in the duct, the air conditioning unit is tight to
the back side of the wall. Randy does not believe tha enlarging the vent will substantially reduce
the noise. He believes that a smaller unit would male less noise but suggested as a test that the
grilles could be removed, in effect enlarging the free open grille area. Cassidy air conditioning
has submitted a proposal to replace the existing air handling unit in the colset with a smaller,
quieter unit for $ 5,245. This work would be done from the outside closet with out damaging the
interior finishes. Doug
