Subject: GIV vibration update
Jeffrey
I've been on the phone with Rolls Royce, reference plan of attack to resolve vibration issue.
Rolls Royce is very proactive to resolve this item, They inform they will work in conjunction with Gulfstream Tech ops to
assist in trouble shooting. I have fwd'd a summary email highlighting our trouble shooting efforts, including, repainting
the wings.
Tech support Rolls did inform, this is not the first time they have addressed this type of issue, one recent involved a GV,
in which cabin sound proofing was added, their complaint was Harmonic tone in cabin with Engine sync ON.
Rolls informs that removing the engine for Fan balance on test cell is not a recommended procedure, in the past,
engines that are balanced in the test cell do not sync with the airframe once installed, its a common practice to Fan
balance once the engine is reinstalled on the airframe. Best conditions to fan balance requires calm wind.
Rolls does recommend removing only the Fan from the engine and balance in test cell, especially on FANS that require a
lot of weights such as our Right side q2 engine, IF its determined this is the correct avenue to explore?
Rolls is checking their schedule to see if they can work the aircraft in Montreal next week,. I will update you asap.
thank you
Larry
