Dear Attorney Kellerhals:
This is in response to your request ... authorization to remove Sargasso seaweed that has
blanketed the shorelines of Great St. James, Virgin Islands.
The proposed scope of work has been reviewed and it has been determined that ... Islands; therefore, CZM requires that only rubber-tired equipment be used to remove the
seaweed.
Based on this determination, you are authorized to remove the seaweed with the following
conditions

with all sifting screen equipment, is the ability to screen out

wet seaweed. Screens become clogged preventing sand from going through, dry seaweed
presents little problem. The model ... would work well in
the conditions as seen except for the large amount of seaweed in one picture. Again, all walk
behind beach cleaners on the market use the sifting ... screens and they will all have the same
problem with wet seaweed.
